BUILDING A PARTICLE ACCELERATOR REQUIRES THE COLLABORATION OF MANY DISCIPLINES
International projects of this magnitude provide young scientists with a dynamic work environment and expose them to different cultures, languages and mindsets. They often lead to spin-off projects, such as the creation of the centre for cancer therapy, MedAustron, in Austria. Engineers from the Austrian University of Applied Sciences built this centre in five years, assisted by experts from CERN.
